DECK PREVIEW & PRE-ORDER INFORMATION
Smoke, Ash & Embers
Wander Into a Magical World Where Dragons do Exist
Created by Stephanie Burrows, Illustrated by Adam Oehlers
Three Trees Tarot, Volume II (first printing)
Pre-orders run from October 1st - October 31st, 2021
HELLO! And to our previous supporters and customers, welcome back! We're so excited to introduce you to the beautifully illustrated Smoke, Ash & Embers; an eco-friendly, Rider-Waite-Smith inspired Tarot deck featuring whimsical woodland dragons (printed right here in the UK).
Whether this is your first Tarot deck, one of many, or you simply love the artwork, we invite you to wander into a magical world where dragons do exist. You might find a dragon curled up, peacefully sleeping under a mossy rock, splashing in a puddle, or hiding in the hollow of a tree.
There’s quite a bit to cover, so please read all the information below before you decide to commit to purchase. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Here we go...
DECK SIZE: 78 Tarot cards (22 Major Arcana, 56 Minor Arcana), two double-sided companion reference sheets, one mystery art card in keeping with the theme of the deck, and a secret bonus card (a preview of our next deck). That's 82 cards in total!
CARD SIZE: 70mm x 120mm (with white borders).
CARD STOCK: Eco-friendly, 400gsm, FSC accredited/carbon balanced paper with veggie inks (protected by matte, anti-scuff laminate).
BOX: Housed in a newly designed, 350gsm tuck box (with an easy to open lid and a glued base).
Since we want to keep Smoke, Ash & Embers as eco-friendly as possible, there is no physical guidebook that accompanies this Tarot deck, and there are no plans for one. Instead, we're including two double-sided companion reference sheets featuring keywords that thoughtfully depict the nature of each card, allowing the deck to be read intuitively. There will also be an accompanying PDF guidebook (login instructions will be sent once decks are dispatched).
THE MAJOR ARCANA
These cards showcase imagery that parallels the 22 individual universal archetypes represented in the Major Arcana of a classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Many of the Majors are distinguished by their dark, mystical skies, which really emphasise the Major Arcana's importance.

THE MINOR ARCANA
The Cups are water-based and quite playful. They represent feelings, emotions and relationships. This is the brightest suit of the bunch, with the dragons having little webbed feet, gills and a frog-like appearance.
The Pentacles are earthy and grounded. They represent the material world. The dragons in this suit generally have leafy scales and a strong connection to the forest.
The Swords are airy and a bit serious. They represent intellect, thoughts and state of mind. The suit is illustrated with dark colours and black, winged dragons.
The Wands are fiery and curious. They represent creativity, inspiration and passion. Here, you’ll find lots of reds, smoke, fire, and fog.

THE CARD BACKS & THE BOX
It looks like a dragon has found itself a comfortable place to settle among the flowery vines, so who are we to disturb him? While the backs of the cards aren't reversible, they are stunning and really tie the deck together. We hope you love them as much as we do.
WHY WE THINK YOU'LL LOVE THIS DECK...
DRAGONS! Need we say more?! It’s also a beautiful, whimsical collectors deck that we hope you’ll enjoy for years to come.
It's intuitive. We feel that as you work with this deck, you will begin to develop personal associations with the cards. Since it's based on the Rider-Waite-Smith system, the cards are easy to understand.
It's eco-friendly. Smoke, Ash & Embers is printed right here in the UK with FSC accredited/carbon balanced paper and veggie inks (please see the ‘OUR PRINTER’ section below for further information).
After the fantastic experience we had with Generation Press (who printed our first Tarot deck, Oak, Ash & Thorn), we’ll be using them, once again, to print Smoke, Ash & Embers in the eco-friendly manner that is so important to us. There are so many reasons we love them:
They’re local to us (based in Brighton, England), which reduces our carbon footprint.
They have been EMAS certified since 2014 (that’s the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, which allows all types of organisations to improve their environmental performance and achieve recognition for doing so).
They use their own generated solar power and are topped up with renewable energy supplied by Ecotricity, they’re carbon-neutral, they offer sustainable paper, and they use vegetable-based inks. We also love that they’ve funded the planting of 6001 trees in the UK. Ecotricity invests more in creating renewable energy than all other UK suppliers put together.
They offer the Carbon Balanced Paper programme, enabling their customers to offset their emissions through The World Land Trust (an international conservation charity that protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (ORDERING INFO)
FIRST THINGS FIRST, WILL YOU BE DOING ANOTHER KICKSTARTER?
While we had a fantastic experience using the Kickstarter platform and interacting with backers, we've decided to do pre-orders on our website instead. The difference?... With a Kickstarter, if we don't hit a monetary target, the deck won't get printed. With a pre-order, our deck will be printed no matter what; it's just a matter of how many to print. That's where pre-orders come in to play...
WHAT IS A PRE-ORDER?
Pre-ordering means that you won't receive your order right away. Instead, you will secure your order for a later date. This helps us estimate how many decks to have printed.
WHEN WILL PRE-ORDERS TAKE PLACE?
Pre-orders will run from October 1st - October 31st.
WHEN DO I PAY FOR MY PRE-ORDER?
Payment is made the moment you place your order to help aid in the creation of this deck.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE MY ORDER?
The current timeline for production and shipping can be found below. The risks we face are possible delays to shipping times caused by the pandemic (which could include delays with the printer). We will be posting updates weekly via e-mail to keep everyone in the loop.
By pre-ordering, you understand the shipment time will be several months after your purchase is complete.
HOW MUCH DOES SMOKE, ASH & EMBERS COST?
Special early-bird pricing of £37.50 per deck + shipping (this is a savings of £5 off the normal retail price); includes one set of early-bird extras per deck (one A6 sized print pack, one sticker pack and one fridge magnet...a £14.50 value!)...photos of these below:
CHECK OUT THESE EARLY-BIRD EXTRAS!
Want to purchase Smoke, Ash & Embers and Oak, Ash & Thorn together? No problem! Bundles cost £75.00 + shipping (this is a savings of £10 off the normal retail price). Bundle packs will be listed on our website when pre-orders go live; includes one set of early-bird extras per bundle (one A6 sized print pack, one sticker pack and one fridge magnet...a £14.50 value!).
ARE THERE ANY FURTHER DISCOUNTS?
Because of the special early-bird pricing deals, there will not be any further discounts available.
WHAT IF I MISS THE OCTOBER PRE-ORDER WINDOW?
Once the pre-order window ends on October 31st, 2021, we'll be working on finalising the artwork and placing an order with the printer. After that, we'll have a better idea of how many decks we'll have left to sell and then list any remaining copies on our website (dates TBA). Decks will increase to our normal retail price of £42.50 per deck + shipping (extras are not included; however, they may be purchased separately).
HOW WILL MY ORDER BE SHIPPED?
Most orders weighing 2kg and under will be sent tracked via Royal Mail. For orders shipped to addresses outside of the UK, a tracking number will be available upon request via e-mail (at least 24 hours after you receive a dispatch notification).
Please remember that shipping times are estimates and are not guaranteed. Experience has shown us that some packages can take up to 35 days or more to be delivered; however, the vast majority are delivered in a timely manner. While we aim to dispatch orders promptly, unfortunately, we cannot promise on-time delivery, and we cannot provide more information than what the tracking shows (if applicable).
HOW MUCH IS SHIPPING?
Shipping costs vary depending on the items that you order and where you're located. To give you a roundabout idea of shipping costs, we're listing the shipping price for up to five decks below. Please remember that if you add additional items onto your order, the shipping cost could be more (as we ship by weight). If you have any specific questions regarding this, please don't hesitate to contact us.
IMPORTANT: IF YOU WANT TO ORDER MORE THAN 5 DECKS (meaning your order will contain 6+ decks), PLEASE CONTACT US BEFOREHAND SO WE CAN FIND THE BEST SHIPPING RATE FOR YOU.
WHAT IF I PURCHASE OTHER ITEMS? WHEN WILL THEY SHIP?
Please note everything you purchase will ship together in the same package. We're afraid that we're unable to split orders (as this would result in a disorganised dispatch process).

Hi! I'm the creator of this deck. The West Yorkshire countryside that I now call home is the source of my inspiration. Some of my earliest memories of Tarot include my mother reading Tarot for friends and family. Now, I enjoy starting my day with Tarot for inspiration and guidance.
The journey to where I am today has been incredibly wonderful. I am thankful to everyone that has supported me along the way. Your e-mails and messages are so lovely, and it reminds me, every day, how lucky I am to be doing what I'm doing.
