Thanks for your interest in our MINI Oak, Ash & Thorn tarot deck. The creatures of the forest have spoken, and they have asked us to print a smaller sized deck that they can handle more easily with their little paws. Wish granted!
Oak, Ash & Thorn is an eco-friendly tarot deck, printed right here in the UK. It's also a Rider-Waite-Smith inspired deck suitable for anyone on their journey into Tarot (whether this is your first deck, one of many or if you simply enjoy the artwork adorning each card).
In folklore, the site of oak, ash and thorn trees entwined on a hillside mark the dwelling of spirits or the entrance to the other world. These three trees come together with a collection of woodland animals to create a stunning and unique Tarot deck. The beautiful English countryside that surrounds us was the inspiration for its creation.

MINI DECK SPECS

DECK SIZE: 78 Tarot cards (22 Major Arcana, 56 Minor Arcana), a ‘Possibilities’ card and two, double-sided reference sheets. The deck is protected by two blank cards.

CARD SIZE: 58mm x 99mm (roughly 2.28 x 3.89 inches) with white borders and rounded corners

CARD STOCK: Eco-friendly, 350gsm, FSC accredited/carbon balanced paper with veggie inks (protected by matte, anti-scuff laminate)

BOX: The cards are housed in a light brown, 350gsm tuck flap box (with an easy to open lid and a glued base); beautifully embossed in black veggie-based ink in a woodland design.
Since we want to keep Oak, Ash & Thorn as eco-friendly as possible, there is no physical guidebook that accompanies this Tarot deck, and there are no plans for one. Instead, we include two double-sided companion reference sheets featuring keywords that thoughtfully depict the nature of each card, allowing the deck to be read intuitively.
There is an accompanying PDF guidebook which will be emailed automatically upon purchase.
THE MAJOR ARCANA (BELOW)
These cards showcase animals whose personality traits parallel the 22 individual universal archetypes represented in the Major Arcana of a classic Rider-Waite-Smith deck. Below is a sampling of some of the Majors that will be included in our deck:
THE MINOR ARCANA (BELOW)
The Minor Arcana cards are broken down by an animal representative of each element.

THE CUPS (squirrels) represent feelings, emotions and relationships. They resemble a heart-centred spirit.

THE PENTACLES (hares) represent the material world. They resemble a grounded and bountiful spirit.

THE SWORDS (ravens) represent intellect, thoughts, and state of mind. They resemble a logical and intelligent spirit.

THE WANDS (foxes) represent creativity, inspiration and passion. They resemble a bold and adventurous spirit.
THE CARD BACKS (BELOW)
The back of the cards aren't reversible, but it doesn't mean you can't read the deck using reversals. The emblem in the middle of each card is small enough so that when it's reversed, the upside-down cards aren't quite as noticeable...it's a happy medium.

HOW DOES THE MINI DIFFER FROM THE REGULAR SIZE OAK, ASH & THORN?

IT'S SMALLER: The MINI measures 58mm x 99mm (roughly 2.28 x 3.89 inches).

IT'S THINNER: The MINI is printed on the same paper we love, but this time, it's printed on 350gsm stock.

THERE'S A SLIGHT CHANGE TO THE TITLE COLOURS: It's barely noticeable, but we've tweaked some of the title colours to better complement the card illustrations.

THE HANGED MAN is now called 'The Hanged Mouse'.
OUR PRINTER
After our fantastic experience with Generation Press, we’re using them to print the MINI Oak, Ash & Thorn in the eco-friendly manner that is so important to us. There's so many reasons we love them:

They’re local to us (based in Brighton, England), which reduces our carbon footprint.

They have been EMAS certified since 2014 (that’s the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, which allows all types of organisations to improve their environmental performance and achieve recognition for doing so).

They use their own generated solar power and are topped up with renewable energy supplied by Ecotricity, they’re carbon-neutral, they offer sustainable paper, and they use vegetable-based inks. We also love that they’ve funded the planting of 6001 trees in the UK.

They offer the Carbon Balanced Paper programme, enabling their customers to offset their emissions through The World Land Trust (an international conservation charity that protects the world’s most biologically significant and threatened habitats acre by acre).
