Sustainability

Our goal is to manage our little business in an environmentally responsible manner, so our practices are constantly evolving. We know we’re just a drop in the ocean, but we want to do our bit anyway.

About our printer

Our Tarot decks are printed by the extraordinary Generation Press, based near Brighton, England. We’re proud to work with them (not just for their impeccable print quality, but for their genuine commitment to people and planet).

Here’s why we chose them:

They’re local, which helps us keep our carbon footprint low.

B Corp Certified since 2022, with a score of 119 (a clear indicator of their accountability across everything from employee wellbeing to supply chain ethics).

Previously EMAS certified (2013–2018), recognising their long-term commitment to improving environmental performance.

Carbon neutral and proud participants in the Carbon Balanced Paper programme in partnership with the World Land Trust (helping protect threatened habitats acre by acre).

Sustainable materials: They use FSC-certified papers and vegetable-based inks.

Living Wage Employer since 2020.

And they’ve funded the planting of 7,179 trees since 2013.

About our decks

Cards: Printed on Gallerie Art Satin (FSC-certified and made by an EMAS-certified mill for high environmental standards).

Tuck boxes: Made from Colorplan paper, which is FSC-certified, fully recyclable, biodegradable, and free from heavy metals and harmful chlorine.

Two-piece boxes: The lid is made from Colorplan paper (see above). The base is corrugated cardboard (made mainly from renewable, recycled paper fibres. It’s recyclable, biodegradable, and low-impact to produce, making it one of the most sustainable packaging materials available).

About our packaging

We’re committed to using the most environmentally friendly packaging options we can find. That means constantly reviewing and improving our materials (and reusing wherever possible).

Tissue paper: Made from 100% recycled content. Fully recyclable, compostable and biodegradable. Sourced from the UK or EU.

Corrugated cardboard inserts: Made from renewable, recyclable materials. Produced in the UK.

Small brown bags: Made from recyclable Kraft paper. Fully recyclable, biodegradable, and chosen for its strong eco-credentials. Made in the USA, sourced via a UK supplier.

Printed extras (inserts, preview cards, prints, stickers): Fully recyclable and designed with sustainability in mind. Wherever possible, inserts are double-sided with an illustration on the back, and stickers are included to encourage reuse over disposal. Locally printed on FSC-certified, 100% recycled paper.

Kraft gummed pocket envelopes (phasing these out): Fully recyclable and made from 100% recycled kraft board. Made in the UK.

Glassine envelopes: Fully recyclable, compostable and biodegradable. Made in the UK.

Shipping boxes: Many of our boxes are made from sustainable, recyclable and naturally biodegradable materials. We reuse packaging whenever possible, so some orders may arrive in a pre-loved box that may contain plastic tape.

Packing tape: FSC-certified and fully recyclable. Paper sourced from Germany and manufactured in the UK.

Recycled (green) mailers: Made from 100% recycled plastic. Recyclable where accepted and printed with water-based inks. Printed and shipped by NoIssue (main hubs in the USA and China) with carbon-offset delivery.

Corrugated cardboard pads (47 x 129mm): Made from renewable, recyclable materials. Produced in the UK.

Flexi-Hex® sleeves (phasing these out): Made from FSC-certified, 100% recycled content. Made in India and China, sourced via a UK supplier.

Honeycomb paper wrap: 100% paper, recyclable, renewable, and compostable.

Pelaspan S shape loose-fill (looking to phase these out): Made from recycled expanded polystyrene (EPS). Free from harmful CFCs. Manufactured in the UK.

Shredded paper: Made from 100% recycled kraft paper. Fully recyclable, biodegradable, compostable, and vegan-friendly. Sustainably sourced with FSC and PEFC certifications for responsible forestry. Made in the UK.

About our suppliers

To keep our supply chain as green as possible, we prioritise working with suppliers who share our sustainability values, and we try to choose local suppliers wherever we can.

Our carbon commitment (as of 25/05/2025)

We've recently made the decision to begin offsetting the carbon emissions from our parcel shipping.

Between 2023 and 2024, we estimate our shipping activity produced around 9.71 tonnes of CO₂e. To balance this impact, we’ve purchased 10 tonnes of certified carbon removal through Ecologi, offsetting our emissions for that period with a buffer built in.

Rather than offsetting all previous years, we’ve chosen a middle path: starting with recent years and moving forward with a firm commitment to sustainability. This approach allows us to take meaningful action while continuing to grow responsibly.

From 2025 onward, we’re committed to offsetting 100% of our shipping-related emissions each year and doing what we can to reduce our footprint through lighter packaging, thoughtful delivery options, and responsible suppliers.
